Biographica
Uses genomic foundation models, pretrained on public sequencing data and fine-tuned on data from its own lab, to predict which crop genes control a trait and how to edit them, and supplies those gene targets to seed and breeding companies across crops.

Biographica's CROP-1 predicts a crop gene's activity in each tissue and condition from its DNA plus which regulators are on, and designs edits aimed at one context
Many crop genes affect more than one trait, so an edit that helps in one tissue or condition can cause unwanted changes in others. A model that predicts expression per context lets a breeder rank candidate edits by the change wanted in one place and the change everywhere else, before any plant is edited. Biographica sells gene-editing targets to seed companies.

Research entries are the timeline's graded entries that name this company. A level grades one claim, not the company, and a blank can mean the record has not caught up rather than that nothing was published.
