WhiteLab Genomics says AAV carriers designed by its AI platform put about 50 times more DNA into the brain than AAV9 after one injection into a vein in mice, with none found in the liver

Many gene therapies for brain disease are injected into the brain or the spinal fluid because the blood-brain barrier stops medicines carried in the blood, and AAV9 given by vein also reaches organs such as the liver, which the company says creates potential safety and dosing limits. A designed shell that gets into the brain from a vein, and not into the liver, would change how such therapies are given, and it was designed from receptor biology rather than found by screening.

Research entries are the timeline's graded entries that name this company. A level grades one claim, not the company, and a blank can mean the record has not caught up rather than that nothing was published.
