Noubar Afeyan is the founder and CEO of Flagship Pioneering and co-founder and board chairman of both Moderna and Generate:Biomedicines. Before founding Flagship in 2000 he founded and ran PerSeptive Biosystems, and after its acquisition was chief business officer of Applera, where he started Celera Genomics. He studied at McGill University and completed a PhD in biochemical engineering at MIT in 1987.
