   It measures whether an agent can carry out a whole study's analysis from raw data, and says where agents break: large data and long chains of steps. The agent runs a prescribed pipeline and never chooses the analyses; scores rank models against published results, on 20 studies, in the company's own benchmark.

Investors as SiliconANGLE lists them, by common name; SiliconANGLE writes Hawktail as Hawktail Management, and names Olive Tree Capital Advisors where other reports name Olive Capital; Olive Tree Capital's own portfolio (olivetreecapital.com/portfolio, read 2026-09-29) does not list Edison, so Olive Capital (olivevc.com, Menlo Park area; its own site was last updated in 2022 and lists no company after that) is used (siliconangle.com/2025/12/18/edison-scientific-raises-70m-build-autonomous-ai-scientists-research/); the founders' post now 404s live.

   The test is whether an agent can stay on one question long enough to reach a finding, and here outside data and unpublished results are the check. But the checkers and the groups who estimated 6.14 months of work per run are the paper's co-authors and collaborators, the weakest statements are the interpretations, and the new findings were checked against other existing datasets, not new experiments; one wet-lab test is under way.
