Within DFT's own error, the usual computed score for electrocatalysts rates more than a third of the surfaces in Open Catalyst's datasets as good as the best known, a Mila-led preprint finds

Machine-learning catalyst work, including models trained on Open Catalyst data, commonly ranks candidates by this overpotential, and generative models could optimise for it. If a third or more of random materials tie with the best within error, the score cannot pick winners, even though it still finds platinum. The authors suggest screening first on stability, cost and ease of synthesis. It is a short arXiv preprint built mostly on the datasets' own calculations, with no laboratory experiments.

LeMat-GenBench scores 12 crystal generative models: on average, the more stable their structures, the less novel and diverse

A common yardstick for generated crystals makes claims of new materials comparable across labs. Every score is computed: no structure was made, and stability here is a calculated estimate, not a measurement.

Research entries are the timeline's graded entries that name this company. A level grades one claim, not the company, and a blank can mean the record has not caught up rather than that nothing was published.
