Owkin's slide-reading recurrence test separated breast-cancer patients better than two commercial gene assays in two hospital cohorts, on 7 and 42 recorded recurrences

Oncotype DX decides whether a woman gets chemotherapy, so a model that reads the slide the hospital already has would be cheaper and need no tissue sent away. This is not yet evidence it can take that decision: the analysis is the company's own, looking back at archived slides, and 7 recurrences in one cohort cannot separate two tests. The abstract itself says the test 'may support' de-escalation.

Owkin's MesoNet predicts mesothelioma survival from whole-slide pathology images with no pathologist-marked regions, validated on a French cohort and on TCGA

An early case of a startup's model pointing to new tissue features. It is retrospective on stored slides, not a prospective test or a clinical decision.
