    Mirendil says one researcher working with AI agents pretrained Mirendil-Base, a coding model of 100B to 500B parameters, in 3.5 months for under $10M

    Pretraining a competitive base model has taken a team of specialists in architecture, data and chips. If one person directing agents can do it, the scarce inputs become compute and judgment, and a group whose expertise is in its own science, such as a robotics lab or a hospital, could train a model on its own data. It is the first result from a company that raised on the pitch that labs using AI in biology or chemistry should not have to become AI labs.
