Orbital Industries
Also known as Orbital Materials
Formerly Orbital Materials. Uses its atom-simulation model Orb to find materials, then makes and sells the products itself: a PFAS-free data-centre coolant and modular data centres.

Orbital Industries releases OrbMol-v2, an open molecular simulation model it scores ahead of the B3LYP and PBE0 functionals on a public chemistry benchmark
Hybrid functionals such as B3LYP are the default way chemists compute molecular energies, and they are slow at the scale of proteins or electrolytes. A machine-learned model that matches them on a broad outside benchmark, with few large misses (one reaction off by more than 100 kcal/mol, against 59 for the earlier version), could become the first calculation a chemist runs. Without long-range charges, earlier models got even a separating ion pair qualitatively wrong.

Orbital Materials' Orb-v3 interatomic potentials cut latency more than tenfold and memory more than eightfold against its earlier models, at near state-of-the-art accuracy
Speed and size are why a potential can run whole-system simulations. The accuracy comparison uses the authors' chosen evaluations, and nothing was made or measured in a lab.

Research entries are the timeline's graded entries that name this company. A level grades one claim, not the company, and a blank can mean the record has not caught up rather than that nothing was published.
